Maromi
01

Maromi is the name of a fictional pink dog created by Tsukiko. Her boss wants her to duplicate the success of this character with a new IP. However, this causes her to stress out.

It eventually gets an anime series although the anime team has trouble producing it. It is unknown how long the series went on.

The real Maromi

Maromi is also the name of the real dog that Tsukiko had while growing up, upon which she based the character. Both the real Maromi and the fictional one have a similar pattern. However, the plushy version has black ears.

In terms of inspiration, Maromi is inspired by Sanrio characters such as Hello Kitty and My Melody. Its purpose in the story is to act as a distraction from stress similar to how Sanrio characters are seen as such in real life. This is deepened even more by its insistence on "taking a rest."

Throughout the series, Tsukiko will talk to a plushy of Maromi she has with her at all times. She appears to see it as some form of a comfort object. Only to her, though, does the plushy move around and talk up until the end of the series.

Trivia[]

  • The appearances of this Maromi plushy doll is somewhat associated with Lil' Slugger, implying that it is a symbol or indication of something bad will occur towards cornered victims who go insane.
  • An over-sized Maromi doll is shown at the end of the ending credits.
